A tribute to what I consider as the most tragic army in the Warhammer 40.000 universe.

Objective Accomplished: 1000 Pageviews

The autumn is at the gates and this weekend, the 1st major milestone that I had set was reached.

One thousand pageviews , not counting mine of course,  is reached. I started this blig back on February (2014), as a hobby journal for my 558th "Ira Divina" Death Korps Company.  Since then I tried to keep you up-to-date with any progress made and also share with you successful techniques and also epic fails.

I wish I could thank each one of you from United States, United Kingdom. Germany, Australia, Vietnam, Spain, France, Canada, Denmark, China, Saudi Arabia and Sweden

Thank you all for the support! Your feedback is invaluable!

AEGIS Defense Line - Krieg Style

Today I also started a new project. I will try to replicate the ADL in a more gritty style. The pics below are from a proof-of-concept model that I build with some FIMO clay and some stirring sticks. You can read more about creating sandbag walls here.

It is about 5 cm wide and 3,5 cm tall, so I think that it fits for the purpose.

I will keep you updated with the progress.

Mk2 Tactical Field Tent Complete

Just finished the detailing and a few touch-ups. I am about 90% satisfied with the result. Comments and criticism are welcome.

The future of Death Korps

Perhaps some of you have noticed the out of stock label in some of the Krieg models in Forgewold's store. This made me think about the future of our beloved army.

Since my early concerns and fears, that they are dropping the production line, proved wrong after reading a forum or two and also Forgeworld Newsletter #411:

"Been waiting to deploy fresh troops to your Death Korps of Krieg army? Well, now you can as the following Death Korps of Kreig Infantry kits are back in stock and available for you to order!"

They have spent time and money to craft new molds and restock. That's good.

DKoK army is very unique (and expensive) in WH40k universe and as such needs more love from the original creators. A couple of new sculpts would rejuvenate the product line and align to the new codex and general GW face lift.

Third party companies have seen the opportunity and created similar products to compensate with the lack of new models from FW.

100 years after the dawn of WW1, that is the main inspiration for the Krieg product line, would be a perfect milestone for a brand new model!

Tactical MK2 Field Tent - Update

Another piece of terrain, fully scratch-built, for 558 Ira Divina Company. MK2 tents are standard issue equipment for command squads and act as field HQ for the company. Made of highly durable and lightweight fabric and nanocarbon matterials, provides protection against unfriendly environments, radiation, biological agents and also has anti-ballistic properties against small firearms.

Rules-wise (needs refining) provides 4+ cover save and has one (1) Structure Point.

Here is the making of...

Now it also has a base made of plaster gauze, white glue and some sand.
Needs touch-ups and a nice matte varnish coat.

How to: Create kuler paint schemes

Typical questions in the hobby:
  • "Will these colors look right on the model?",
  • "How to paint my army in order to look cool?",
  • "How to choose a unique color scheme?"

If you have asked yourself these questions before and found it hard to answer, then I think I can help. Actually, Adobe can. Adobe has created a nice and easy online tool that allows us to create a nice color palette with only a couple of clicks.

So visit kuler and get hundreds (or even thousands) unique color combinations that look really cool. All you have to do now is pick a test model and give it a shot!

Added value #1: You can create a palette from an image by selecting the camera icon on the right.
Added value #2: You can select other palette algorithms (or Color Rules as Adobe names them) from the menu on the left.

Since the kuler app also gives you the RGB values for each color, here is the mapping to Citadel Color Range
